New Liberal City Commission Meets, Selects Mayor and Vice Mayor

The newly elected City Commissioners, Jeff Parsons, Janeth Vazquez, and Jose Lara, along with current commissioners Chris Linenbroker, and Ron Warren, met Tuesday evening for the first meeting of 2022. After the new Commissioners were sworn in, they selected Jeff Parsons as Mayor and Chris Linenbroker as Vice-Mayor.

The Commission then heard an update on the LEAP Program which is assisting in the search for a City Manager. The Commission then approved Ordinance 4575 which vacates an unused Utility Easement and approved a software upgrade for the Animal Shelter.

Commissioners approved the acceptance of a Concessions Rent Relief Airport Grant Agreement with the FAA and through passing Resolution 2372 endorsed participation in the Kansas Main Street Program.

The Commissioners also approved the acceptance of a Bureau of Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $550,000.00 for 4 years to be used specifically for Drug Court salaries, benefits, training, software, office supplies, drug testing supplies, and related drug court expenses. The City will have to provide a 25% match each year in the amount of $34,375.00 budgeted from the Special Alcohol Tax.
