National Night Out Huge Success In Liberal

National Night Out was held all across the country on Tuesday evening August the 2nd. In Liberal, it was held from 5:30 – 8:30 at Blue Bonnet Park. This was the 2nd year that the Liberal Police Department held and sponsored the event. Different groups and organizations from all across the community set up booths with information, had games for the kids and gave away prizes, food, water and sno cones. The Liberal Fire Department brought two trucks and had them on display. National Beef Packing Company cooked 1000 hamburgers, Seaboard Foods 300 porkburgers and Epic PCS 500 hot dogs. There were also bounce houses and barrel train rides for the kids which were provided by First Southern Baptist Church. Organizer of the event Sgt. Jared Ratzlaff, estimated the crowd of people in attendance to be over 2000. National Night Out is an event held each year on the 1st Tuesday of August, to show criminals and potential criminals that communities are tired of crime and are willing to come out and take a stand against crime.
