Seward County Community College has announced its schedule for graduation ceremonies the first weekend in May. Separate events are planned for Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6, as follows:

Nursing Capping & Pinning, 6 p.m., SCCC Greenhouse (gymnasium). This event is for first- and second-year nursing graduates.

Commencement for Career Technical Education Majors, 9 a.m., SCCC Greenhouse (gymnasium). This event is for graduates earning certificates and degrees in Industrial Technology, Cosmetology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology, Agriculture, Accounting, Business Administrative Technology & the Computer Support Specialist programs who have applied for Career Technical Certificates or Associate of Applied Science degrees.

Commencement for Associate of Arts, Science, and General Studies, 11 a.m., SCCC Greenhouse (gymnasium). This event is for all other students earning an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of General Studies degree.

Graduation for Kansas High School Equivalency Diploma (GED), 3 p.m., SCCC’s Jesus A. Manriquez Showcase Theater in the Shank Humanities Building.
Separating the CTE and academic studies commencement ceremonies provides flexibility and better seating capacity for families and friends of graduates, noted SCCC registrar Alaina Rice.

“This is my favorite time of year,” said Rice, whose office handles planning and implementation of the SCCC ceremonies. “I love seeing our students walk across the state, and realize they accomplished what they set out to do.” For students who are uncertain which ceremony is the right one for them, Rice said the Registrar’s office can answer those questions. Contact them at 620-417-1063.
