Morning Accident on Highway 54 Claims Liberal Man

A fatality accident occurred Tuesday morning at approximately 7:21am, 12 miles west of Liberal on Highway 54. A 2015 Ford Taurus being driven by Mike Riedel, 62, of Liberal was traveling east on Hwy. 54 when he crossed the centerline and struck a 2012 Volvo semi being driven by Guillermo Pimentel, 57, of Conroe Texas. Riedel died at the scene. Pimental was taken to Southwest Medical Center with injuries. Seatbelts were in use in both vehicles.
