The deadline to sign up for Pancake Races is Friday. To date, the International Race has only five contestants: veteran racer Tessy Barnett, 40; newcomer Hannah Belton, 23; Brooke Buchman, 27,who ran in 2004 and 2005; and first-timer Sandra Nash, 25, and the latest entry, last year’s winner Caitlin Demarest. Ten have entered the Men’s Race: Joe Denoyer, Justin Alexander, Joshua Maestas, Cruz Eatmon, and Hayden Akens, Alejandro Avila, Tyson McGuire, Emery Swagerty, Tyson Small, and Bradley Kinser. No one has signed up for the Women’s Last Chance Race. Closed categories as of 5 p.m. Wednesday are three-year-old boys, four-year-old girls, six-year-old boys, and seven-year-old boys.

Sign-ups will continue until 6 p.m. Friday at the Liberal Recreation Center, 1109 W. 7th St. (in Blue Bonnet Park). These sign-ups are for all races and all age groups, except for the Parks and Rec Pancake Chase.
The number of contestants in each race is limited to 15, and a category will be closed once that limit is reached. There is no entry fee. No late sign-ups will be accepted.
