Seymour Rogers Thursday night
In our first MSWAC game of the season 7th A played a tough game against Dodge City Cardinals. DC started the game 6-0 before SRMS got on the board. Score was 8-6 DC after 1. Liberal fought back and led 13-12 at the half. Dodge came out strong in the third and held SRMS to 1 point in the quarter. Cardinals led 20-14 after 3. Both teams kept battling and the game ended in favor of Dodge City 24-33. Jovanni Garcia was the leading scorer for the Apaches with 9 points.
7th B started the game out quick and led 6-0 before Dodge City scored. Seymour kept the pressure on and led 13-4 at halftime. Dodge City struggled to beat the press and SRMS kept capitalizing. Apaches led 23-10 after 3 quarters. B team ended up winning the game 30-21 to get their first win on the year to make their record 1-1.  Alberto Torres led all scorers with 8 points.

A Game

Seymour Rogers trailed 18-0 after the first quarter, but they played much harder and focused in the second half. Kaelon lead the Apaches with 4 points along with Fabian and Zach House both hitting a 3.
B Game
Seymour Rogers played a back and forth game trailing by 1 at the half. The team lost focus for a bit in the 3rd quarter when their best player, Javon Allen went down with an ankle injury in the 3rd. Seymour had a chance to tie the game in the 4th, but Oscar traveled with 4 seconds left and Hugoton was able to dribble out the clock before Seymour could foul.
7th A went up against a talented Hugoton team in their first game of the season.  Hugoton started the game on a 10-0 run before Seymour got on the board. At the end of 1st the score was 4-16 Hugoton.  SRMS ended up putting points in the second quarter to make it 31-16 at the half in an intense game. In the third quarter Hugoton came out strong and shut down Seymour and held them to 2 points in the 3rd. 43-18 Hugoton led after 3. Hugoton ended up winning 47-18. Jonathan Rios led the Apaches with 7 points.
7th B followed a similar suit falling down 10-0 at the end of the first. Seymour went into half down 16-4. The Apaches were led by Alberto Torres’s six points in the third and went into the fourth down, 10-22. Torres added two more in the fourth along with two from Luis Molina, as the Apaches fell 14-26. Torres led the Apaches with 8 points.

Last night the Warrior Scholars Bowl team opened the season with the Great
Bend tournament. We faced five other schools in this season opener.
Emmanuel Garcia, Izabel Lopez, Kihara Amparan, Tommy McClure,
Eduardo Marquez, and Captain Savannah Bigham make up the B-Team. They
faced a tough night as the teams they faces were all outstanding. The top
scorers of the evening were Tommy McClure with 40 points, Eduardo Marquez
with 35 points, Savannah Bigham with 30 points and Izabel Lopez with 20
points. The team answered a total of 125 points out of 960 points. They
all had fun and learned a lot at this meet. The A-Team who consisted of
Hudson Brown, Katie Classen, Brooks Kappelmann, Kyler Sheldon, Adolfo
Almaraz, and Captain Mana Chanthasone. The A-team when 4 and 2 during the
night only losing to Great Bend and Hays. The top scorers of the evening
were Hudson Brown with 180 points, Mana Chanthasone with 90 points, Katie
Classen with 60 points, Brooks Kappelmann with 45 points, and Kyler Sheldon
with 20. The A-team placed 3rd in the tournament with a total of 405
points out of a possible 960. The Scholars Bowl will next participate in
the Deerfield and Dodge City tournament on the 28th and 29th of January.
This is an excellent start to the season. The coaches are really proud of
how the teams did at the first meet.
