Mid Week JUCO Style for Saints and Clarendon

KSCB News - April 10, 2014 7:36 am

It was mid week JUCO style Wednesday at Brent Gould Field. The Seward County Saints had a few more bullets than the Clarendon Bulldogs in an 18-16 Seward win. Seward out-hit the Bulldogs 21-15 while Clarendon had four errors. The Saints used eight pitchers. Ryan McCutcheon and and Adam Guay pitched scoreless innings.

Seward scored four in the first and the second before adding six in the fourth and four in the seventh. Clarendon’s big inning was a seven run second.

John Solberg slugged a grand slam over the right field wall and Reed Thompson hit a three run homer to right which gave the Saints the lead.

Seward is 24-17 and Clarendon is 14-16. Seward plays Friday at Saturday at Colby on 1270 and kscbnews.net. The series was pushed up because there is a 60 percent chance of rain and snow Sunday in Colby. Friday and Saturday’s games air on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
