KSCB News - September 30, 2009 12:00 am

Approximately 225 pounds of marijuana was seized on Sept. 20, after officers smelled the odor coming from the vehicle during a routine traffic stop. Roberta J. Muth, 44, of Arizona, is being held for allegedly trafficking the illegal substance after being stopped for speeding.

According to the Texas County Court Clerk’s Office, officers pulled over a silver 2004 Kia displaying Arizona plates on September 20, for speeding. Officers reported smelling raw marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. Upon completion of the routine traffic stop, officers asked to search the vehicle. Muth denied, officers then deployed the K-9 unit, where the canine made a positive alert for the presence of illegal narcotics.

The report in the Guymon Daily Herald states that officers began searching the vehicle, where they located bundles of a green leafy substance located in several areas. In the trunk of the vehicle, three gunny sacks with bundles of the green leafy substance were located and also two heat sealed bags. Also located in the trunk was a backpack that contained bundles of the green leafy substance. A suitcase was located that contained four heat sealed bags containing the green leafy substance.

Officers then reportedly took the vehicle for further investigation and also Muth in for questioning. The samples taken from the bundles later tested positive for marijuana, they were then weighed. Officers reportedly confiscated approximately 225 pounds.

Muth is being charged with trafficking illegal drugs, marijuana, within 2000 feet of a school or park and possession of CDS without a tax stamp, both felonies. She is being held at the Texas County Detention Center on a bond of $250,000.
