On Friday, September 1, 2023, Seward County Firefighters we’re dispatched to a tractor and vegetation fire in the area of Road 11 and Road L in Central Seward County. Units arrived on the scene to find one tractor and equipment fully involved with 8 acres of short grass and approximately 46 round bales on fire. As firefighters initiated a fire attack, a Seward County Sheriff Deputy who also had arrived on scene found 1 patient with burns to hands, face, and back.

Firefighters proved basic life support, and the patient was turned over to Seward County EMS paramedics for transport to Southwest Medical Center.

The fire was stopped at 8 acres. The department responded with 4 firefighters, 2 engines, 2 tankers, and 2 chief officers. Units assisted by Seward County Sheriff’s Office, Seward County EMS, and local farmer with a tractor and disc.
Damage values were not available at press time.
