Man Arrested for Stealing Money After Fatal Crash

A Mullinville man is in jail after he allegedly stole 600 dollars from a man who was dying after a traffic accident. Ford County Sheriff Dean Bush says the theft occurred after 59-year old James Cox of Plains was killed in a two vehicle accident Sunday on highway 54 near Bucklin. Cox was carrying a large sum of money and some of it was thrown around the highway. Bush says 62 year old David Bilbrey of Mullinville picked up six 100 dollar bills and left the scene. He was arrested a short time later in Kiowa County.

The Liberal Leader & Times reports that Bilbrey was charged Monday with two misdemeanors — obstruction of legal process and theft. He was charged Monday with two misdemeanors of obstruction of the legal process and theft.
