Man Airlifted to Lubbock for First and Second Degree Burns

A Whiting Petroleum employee was airlifted to Lubbock, Texas after an electrical incident occurred north of Guymon on Wednesday morning.

According to a report in the Guymon Daily Herald, Rodney League was airlifted to Lubbock, Texas after receiving 1st and 2nd degree burns to his hands and face from an alleged arc fire.

“Whiting Petroleum employee, Rodney League, suffered burns on his hands and face at one of our Postle field water station facilities near Guymon,” said James J. Volkner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Whiting Petroleum. “The safety of our workers, contractors and the community in which we operate have been, and will continue to be, our top priority.”

“We are currently investigating this electrical incident to understand and remedy the cause and return to normal operations,” added Volkner.

League was airlifted to the burn center in Lubbock, Texas. He was treated for his 1st and 2nd degree burns and later released.

The electrical problem occurred at a water station building in Whiting’s Postle field facility, located in Texas County, Okla.
