LPD To Participate In Kansas Thanksgiving Traffic Enforcement Campaign

KSCB News - November 26, 2014 12:41 pm

The Liberal Police Department, will be participating in the Kansas Thanksgiving Traffic Enforcement Campaign, from Monday, November 24 through Sunday, November 30th, 2014. During this time period officers will be aggressively enforcing the state’s impaired driving and seatbelt laws by increasing patrol efforts. A check lane will also be conducted during this time period at an undisclosed location.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT), the Thanksgiving holiday weekend (Wednesday-Sunday) frequently outranks other holidays in Kansas in number of crashes involving impaired drivers. On average, across Kansas, five persons are killed or injured in alcohol/drug-related crashes each day. Simply failing to buckle up is another cause of needless death and injury. The likelihood of dying in an automobile crash is doubled when the driver is not properly restrained.
Don’t let pride or concerns for your convenience endanger your life and the lives of innocent others. Arrange to ride with a non-drinking acquaintance. Always wear your seatbelt and don’t move until each person riding with you is buckled in. You will live with the consequences – good or bad – the rest of your life.
