LPD Participates In Night Time Seatbelt Enforcement

On February 9th and 16th, 2013, during the hours of 7 pm to 11 pm, the Liberal Police Department participated in the Kansas Nighttime Seatbelt Enforcement Campaign. The Campaign was funded by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation Division of Traffic Safety.

The enforcement activity resulted in multiple citations being issued in the areas of 2nd St. and Kansas Ave and Pine St. and Kansas Ave. A total of 40 citations were issued for various seatbelt violations. Three additional citations were issued for various drivers’ license violations. One citation was issued for no proof of insurance and 6 citations were issued for various equipment violations.

The Liberal Police Department wants to remind everyone to take time to buckle up, before you drive. The Liberal Police Department will be holding numerous nighttime seatbelt enforcements over the next year. Funding for this program is made possible by the Kansas Department of Transportation Division of Traffic Safety.
