Library Pick Up Service Starts Monday at Liberal Memorial Library

Library Pick Up Service Starts Monday

This Monday the library begins the next step in reopening. We look at this as a bridge to the next phase of our reopening where we can begin letting people back into the building. We will be following closely state, county, and local guidelines. We are calling this service Library Pick-Up and it works a lot like what some area businesses have been doing by bringing items to your car. The key difference is that you will need to call ahead of time to reserve materials and to make an appointment to pick them up.

How to get started

Go to our webpage at www.lmlibrary.org and click on the catalog link on the right hand side of the page.

On the top right of the catalog page it asks you to login. Login with your library card or username and password. If you do not know or remember your login information, please contact the circulation desk at the library by calling 620-626-0180 or by email at [email protected] and a staff person will make sure your information is correct.

If you have fines that prevent you from placing a hold on an item, please contact the library and we will help resolve this issue.

Once you login and/or all issues have been resolved. Begin searching for items you would like to check out. Once you find a title that is available, click on the “Place a hold” button. There is a limit of 15 items.

If you do not have access to the internet at home, you are welcome to call the library at 620-626-0180 and a librarian will guide you through the process and get you the materials you need if they are available.

Interlibrary Loan Service is not available at this time as the courier service is not delivering or picking up materials. Interlibrary Loan Service will resume at a later date when more libraries are willing to loan materials via the courier.

Setting your appointment to pick up your order

Once you have placed your holds, a librarian will pull those materials and get them ready to pick up at the next available pick up time. At a minimum this will be the next day or 24 hours. Pick up times will be scheduled in advance. If you are unable to make your pick up appointment, please contact the library. If you do not contact us or show up for your pickup, staff will hold the items for 24 hours and then place them back on the shelf. There will be a Limit of 15 items.

When you come to the library to pick up your items, park in front of the North Doors and call the library. Stay in your vehicle. There will be a sign with the library phone number and instructions next to a table. A staff person will set your items on the table in front of the North doors (doors facing parking lot). Your items will be in a plastic bag. We recommend washing your hands and disposing of the bag when you get home. After the staff person has gone back into the library, please retrieve your items. If you are unable to do this due to a physical limitation, please let us know. We will ask you about this when you make your appointment.

We ask that all items be returned to the alleyway book drop only. This allows for people to pick up holds and adhere to social distancing. Staff will not be receiving returned items from patrons during the library pick up process. Please us the book drop in the alleyway.

You will notice that items will stay on your account even after you have returned them. We are placing the items in isolation for one week before returning them to the library shelves. Don’t worry, no fines will be accrued or stay permanently on your account.

Please do not show up to the library without first making an appointment, as there is no access to the inside of the library at this time.

If you have any questions, please let us know. We are excited to be making this next step, and look forward to reopening the library as the State of Kansas moves through the predetermined opening phases. All information about reopening and how the Library Pick-Pp service will work can be found on our website at www.lmlibrary.org and by following our Facebook page, search for: Liberal Memorial Library.

This is all new and a lot of information to digest all at once. Please contact the library by phone at 620-626-0180, or by email at [email protected] if you have any questions.
