Liberal Police Take No Tolerance Approach to School Zones

KSCB News - August 19, 2010 12:00 am

School resumed in Liberal yesterday at the high school and middle

schools. School begins today for first through sixth grades. School

zones will be enforced again and Liberal Police Lieutenant John

Antrim says if you are pulled over in a school zone, expect a ticket.

“Speeding in school zones is one of our zero tolerance enforcement

actions that we take,” Antrim said. “The big thing to remember is

a lot of these kids are young. They’re excited for the start of school.

They’re in a hurry to go see their friends and their teacher. They don’t

necessarily thing about safety. That’s why as drivers it’s our responsibility

to take that role and be extra cautious and watch for them.”

Antrim also reminds motorists that the speed limit remains 30 miles

per hour on the new Western Avenue.
