Liberal Police Raise Money for Shop with a Cop

KSCB News - October 11, 2011 6:05 am

Liberal police are making sure as many kids as possible get what they want for Christmas. The LPD is currently raising money for the Shop with a Cop project. They’ve already had a six team softball tournament and this weekend host a golf tournament before a bake and craft sale in early December. LPD’s Alison Clark says it’s worthwhile.

“Shop with a cop is a program to help kids who may not have the type of Christmas that most of us take advantage,” Clark said. “We raise money throughout the year. We try to take 20 to 25 kids shopping each year. We pick a date close to Christmas and feed all these kids breakfast. We take the kids to Wal Mart and the kids pick a cop they want to shop with.” We try to give them about 100 to 125 dollars per kid.”

The police department hosts a golf tournament Saturday at Willow Tree. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. and you can call Willow Tree at 626-0175 to register. You can also donate any time to the Liberal Police Department for the Shop with a Cop Program by mailing or bringing by a check.
