Liberal Police Department Receives Regional Award

Brock Kappelmann - August 12, 2020 3:22 pm

The Liberal Police Department is being honored with a regional award from the Mid-States Organized Crime Information Center (MOCIC) based in Springfield, Missouri.

The MOCIC Executive Committee has selected the department as a lead agency for this award due to our progressive use of organizational resources during a 2017 LPD murder investigation.  Liberal Police officers and investigators made effective use of various forms of MOCIC assistance and support including mapping, suspect intelligence research, travel pattern, and cell phone analysis, among other items which contributed to a successful investigation of the case.

The award will be presented to the department during MOCIC’s 40th Annual Conference and Training Session scheduled for August 11th-13th in Branson, Missouri.  Lt. Mark West will accept the award on behalf of the Liberal Police Department.
