Liberal Firefighters Battle Monday Afternoon Blaze

At 4:01pm Monday afternoon the Liberal Fire Department responded to a reported dumpster fire spreading to a structure at 1007 N. Missouri Ave. First arriving units at 4:05 pm found significant fire in the underside of a mobile home which was rapidly extending into the interior of the home as well as a dumpster burning in the alley. The fire was declared under control at 4:15 pm.

The fire was discovered by a male occupant returning home from work. There were no occupants in the residence at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The mobile home suffered significant fire damage as well as smoke damage throughout.

Fire units cleared the scene at 6:05 pm and were back in service at 6:26 pm. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The LFD response included three engines and thirteen personnel. Also assisting at the scene were Liberal Police Department, Seward County EMS and Liberal Red Cross.
