Liberal Fire Department to Dedicate Zachary D. Clifton Memorial Library

KSCB News - May 31, 2011 3:21 pm

The Liberal Fire Department will be dedicating the Zachary D. Clifton Memorial Library on June 2, 2011. A private department dedication will begin at 1:15 p.m. on this date and will be closed to the general public. Only department members and their immediate families will be allowed. Following the department dedication, the general public will be welcome to visit the library from 3:00-6:00 p.m.

Firefighter Zachary Clifton was fatally injured in a car accident on the way to his wedding on June 2, 2006. Following this tragedy, his family graciously asked friends and family to make contributions to the Zachary Clifton Memorial Fund in care of the Liberal Fire Department. The funds were to be used to enhance firefighter safety. A library was chosen as the best way to utilize these funds so that firefighters could further educate themselves with an emphasis on safety. A new collection of firefighting books and DVDs has been purchased and are present in the library.
