KSCB News - August 25, 2009 12:00 am

The Liberal City Commission is set to meet Tuesday August 25th at 6:30pm at the City Commission Chambers. On the agenda for this regularly scheduled meeting is the final reading of Ordinance 4374 which would allow golf carts on certain streets in the community. There are guidlines and restrictions that the golf cart owners must adhere to and the carts must be travelling in the most direct route to and from the golf course. Commissioners will also consider environmental and vehicle abatements, and the setting of a hearing for the condemnation of 39 S. Calhoun. The Liberal Fire Department will also come before the commission with a vehicle purchase request as will the Economic Development Department. The commission will also consider an Airport Land Sale to King Enterprises. The Western Avenue Project is also on the agenda for the meeting. City Commissioners are considering whether to use concrete or asphalt for the reconstruction of the road. In the plans, Western Avenue from 15th Street, south to Highway 54 will be reconstructed. As always these meetings are open to the public, and can be viewed on Windjammer Cable Channel 15.
