Liberal City Commission Approves Changes to Fireworks Ordinance

The Liberal City Commission met on Tuesday evening and after approving the Consent Agenda, approved Ordinance 4643, amending Chapter 7, Article 7 of the City Code relating to fireworks. Changes have been made to discharge dates and hours, as well as to sale dates and hours.

The Commission approved the 2025 the Standard Traffic Ordinances and Public Offense Code, and approved the application for the 2026 Kansas Commerce SIGNS Grant, which would support updated signage for three downtown businesses.

Commissioners also approved the application for the H.U.G.S. Grant from Southern Pioneer, the Bureau of Justice Assistance Grant, and the Pedigree Foundation Grant.

Tara Logan was appointed to the Arkalon Board, and the City Commission approved the Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Liberal, Seward County Community College, and USD 480. The Memorandum represents the City’s commitment to work together, in a mutually beneficial agreement, to pool resources and provide a fiscally responsible solution to a need in the community. The USD 480 approved this at their meeting on Monday.
