Liberal Chamber of Commerce Celebrates 10 Years Of the Duck Festival

The Liberal Chamber of Commerce celebrated 10 years of Duck Races with a huge Duck Festival in Bluebonnet Park on Saturday. Events kicked off with a Parking Lot garage sale in front of the Liberal Recreation Center. There was food, fun and festivities all day long culminating with the “Duck Race” at 2:00pm. Activities throughout the day included commercial vendors and non-profit organizations, a firefighter water fight, bouncy houses, trike races for adults, a kick the can contest, the KSCB Chili Cook Off, play a Saint in basketball, a car show, a sound off, National Beef sold hamburgers, and a dunk tank. Winners in the Chamber sponsored events included Beau Fick in the Kick The Can contest, Joe Denoyer in the Dress Like A Birthday Duck Contest, and Keenann Willmann and Ryan Delay defeated Tyson Rice and Shane Matile in the Firefighters Water Fight. In the Duck Race the top ten were: Dora Madrid in 1st, Nathan McAffrey 2nd, Renee Jones 3rd, Dennis Riney 4th, Carl Lynn 5th, Marty Martin 6th, Nancy Weilke 7th, Allen Duncan 8th, Joy Thabet 9th, and Benny Nix in 10th. All totaled the Chamber sold over 2900 ducks and paid out $10,010.00 to the winners.
