LHS Runs into More Sharp Shooters in Salina

Brock Kappelmann - January 24, 2020 8:10 pm

One night after Abilene shot 72 percent against Liberal, the Redskins saw Salina Central shoot 65 percent in a 74-61 loss at the Brick House in Salina Friday afternoon.  The Redskins drop their third straight game.

The Skins shot well early in the game again, much like they did Thursday against Abilene.  Liberal led 14-12 but trailed 19-17 after one.  Salina Central took second quarter leads of 22-17, 29-20, 31-20, and 36-22 before leading 36-25 at halftime.  The Redskins came out of the halftime locker room with purpose cutting the Mustang lead to 38-32.  But Central ripped off a run of 14-0 and 18-2 to lead 52-32 and 56-34.  Central led 59-40 after three.

Salina Central made 11-25 three pointers and 65 percent of their shots.  Liberal had a pretty good offensive game shooting 44 percent and 8-19 from three point range.  LHS was also a solid 11-14 at the foul line.

AJ Ramirez scored a career high 16 while Hunter Hatcher and Lee Hatcher scored 14 a piece.

Liberal is 5-7 and Salina Central is 4-6.  Liberal plays the loser of Concordia and Buhler Saturday at 12:30 with Redskin Pre-game at 12:15 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
