LHS Opens Girls Tennis Season with Dual

The Lady Redskins started their season with a dual meet against Ashland.
Led by an impressive performance from Jackie Endicott, Ashland won the
event. Endicott went 3-0 finishing first place in singles, followed by
Liberal senior, Valerie Esqueda, and Ashland’s Elizabeth Quintana. Ashland
swept the top spots in doubles with the team of Callie Kellenberger and
Natalie Bonilla going 3-0. Second place went to
Taylor Dreiling and Lyndsey Jaeger from Ashland with Liberal seniors Jadyn
Williams and Mariyvette Aguilar taking third place. Playing in their first
varsity tournament were seniors Cynthia Amaro and Johali Portillo while
Rebecca Irby
returned to the court after missing a few days from an ankle injury.
Liberal’s JV
squad will compete in Cimarron on Tuesday, and the next varsity tournament
is
September 7th in Ulysses.
