Lawrence Dumont to Memorialize Bat Boy Kaiser Carlile

KSCB News - August 18, 2015 10:24 am

After Kaiser Carlile’s death there was an outpouring of support for him, his family, and the Bee Jay’s both emotionally and financially, but now the Wingnuts hope to memorialize the tenacious bat boy in Wichita.

The 9 year old’s death wasn’t just felt locally, his life has touched the entire baseball community.

“We wanted to have something to honor the little boy who loved baseball so much,” said Tyler Harrison, Group Sales Manager for the Wingnuts.

The idea is to build a granite baseball fountain.

“It kind of brings beauty to the ballpark, it’s the beautiful life of a young man and all the joy that he brought to the people he was with,” said Wingnuts Assistant General Manager Brian Turner. “It’ll say ‘play hard, have fun’ it’s kind of the quote that Kaiser always told the Liberal players when they were having a down day.”

It’ll cost $40,000-$50,000 and to raise the money Lawrence Dumont is selling ticket packages for the Wingnuts August 21st game ranging from $100 to $2,000 with a portion going toward the fountain. Plus there will be a silent auction at Friday game.

“We’ve had teams from all over the country reaching out to us wanting to know how they can help,” Turner said.

They’ll be auctioning off signed jerseys from Alex Gordon, Hunter Pence, and Miguel Cabrera to name a few.

Once complete the fountain will serve as a tribute to Kaiser, but they also hope it will inspire people the way he did.

“To play hard, to love the game just like he did. To enjoy- really life and everything that life has to offer,” said Harrison.

There are five different ticket packages available for the 7:05 p.m. game, each featuring a different sized donation to the memorial fund. The following is a list of the options with donations included in the total cost: To purchase a ticket package contact Brian Turner in the Wingnut’s office or email him at [email protected]
