Lamar Takes Two from Seward

The Seward County Saints baseball team continued their non-conference struggles on Wednesday with two losses at home to No. 21 Lamar. The Runnin Lopes won game one 4-3, and took game two 8-3.

In game one Lamar scored two runs to begin the game, with the Saints responding with two of their own to tie the game up at two after one inning of play. Lamar added a run in the third and Seward tacked one on in the fifth to tie the game up for a second time. Lamar answered back with one more in the sixth though and held on for the victory. Jared Wagner got the loss for Seward pitching six innings and giving up four runs off of seven hits. The Saints finished the game with six hits.

In game two the Runnin Lopes got off to a good early start scoring four runs in the first inning. They would never trail en route to an 8-3 win. Jace Moore was again a bright spot thowing four shutout innings.

Lamar improves to 38-9 overall. Seward drops to 25-24 overall. The Saints have the weekend off but will return to play on Tuesday when they host Clarendon for a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
