Lady Skins Rally Past Lawton

KSCB News - December 10, 2012 7:11 am

Liberal coach Bill Baird says he thanks "lady luck" for this win. The Lady Redskins rallied to beat class 6A Lawton (1-3) 43-40 in overtime Saturday afternoon in the Big House.

Liberal struggled much of the day trailing early 20-5 and making just 2-14 free throws.

Liberal took the lead with nine seconds left on Lyric Robinson’s runner from the right. Lawton’s Monique Jackson made one of two foul shots to tie the game and send it to overtime. LHS trailed 40-37 in OT before Megan Besecker made her only shot of the game, a three from the left corner to tie the game. Then Besecker found Jai Chapman in the right corner for a three pointer to make it 43-40 with a minute to play.

Chapman scored 18 and Marisol Regalado scored 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. LHS is 2-2 and hosts Gruver Tuesday at 6 on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. Pre-game begins at 5:45.
