Lady Saints will be Pennyless Next Year

KSCB News - May 3, 2012 7:16 am

Seward Lady Saint assistant Penny Jones is moving on up. After three years as an assistant for Toby Wynn, Jones takes an assistant coaching position at Weber State.

Jones helped recruit and coach two Lady Saints freshman to All-Conference Honors (Ashlynn Knoll & Mariah Lee) and another player that was named to the Region VI Tournament All-Tournament Team (Mattie Yanke). She also assisted a Jayhawk West championship team her first year at Seward in 2010 when the Lady Saints were 31-3.

Wynn is currently searching for what will be his third assistant coach. Kim Ortega assisted Wynn from 2006-2009 before Jones came to Liberal. Ortega is now an assistant at UNLV.

Jones was Director of Basketball Operations two seasons at South Alabama before coming to Liberal. She played basketball and graduated from West Florida in Pensacola.
