Lady Saints Remain Fourth in Final Poll

Brock Kappelmann - March 1, 2017 11:58 am

The Seward County Lady Saints run at #4 in the NJCAA Top 25 Poll continued this week as they earned a pair of wins last week and a win Monday to finish the regular season 29-1.

Odessa remained at #1 this week, but suffered their first loss of the season Monday after the poll was voted on for the week. With a matching 29-1 record and co-Jayhawk Conference Champions with the Lady Saints, Hutchinson sticks at #2 while 27-2 Gulf Coast stands pat at #3. Following Seward at #5 is still Chipola with a 25-3 record while South Plains jumps one spot to #6 and Salt Lake drops one place to #7 after their fourth loss of the season. Shelton State remains at #8 while Tallahassee and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M round out the top 10.

The Lady Saints wrapped up a 29-1 regular season on Monday, finishing at co-Jayhawk Conference Champions with Hutchinson at 25-1 in league play. The Lady Saints won the postgame coin flip with the Dragons and will be the top seed for the Region VI Tournament beginning on Thursday. With their top seed, Seward draws a bye and will take on the winner of Thursday’s Independence/Allen game Monday at 1:00 in Park City’s Hartman Arena.
