KSCB News - January 6, 2015 7:12 am

On a night when the temperature in the Green House was in the high 50’s and low 60’s Seward was as cold shooting as it was in the gym Monday night. But the #7 Lady Saints overcame at 2-19 performance from three point range to beat Colby 65-56 in Seward’s Jayhawk West opener.

Colby, buoyed by a first win over Cloud in nine years Saturday night, bolted to a 20-11 lead over Seward. The Lady Saints ripped off a 12-0 run to lead 23-20. The Lady Saints led 31-25 at the half. Seward led by as many as 13 twice on the way to their 17th consecutive win over Colby.

Seward was dominant inside as Tamara Seda scored 13 and grabbed 18 rebounds while Axelle Bernard had 10 points and 11 rebounds. Daniela Galindo scored 15 and Rebekah Hatchard scored 14. Seward only shot 35 percent but held CCC to 31 percent shooting. Seward is 13-1 and 1-0 while the Lady Trojans are 8-7 and 1-1. Seward plays at Pratt Wednesday night at 6 with Saints Shootaround at 5:45 on B107.5 and kscbnews.net.
