KSCB News - March 9, 2009 12:00 am

The Seward County Lady Saints season came to an end Monday in Wichita as Hutchinson defeated the Lady Saints 53-51 in the Region VI Championship Game. Seward shot just 29.5% from the floor and trailed 28-15 at halftime. They came back though in the second half to make it interesting and had a chance to tie it or win it with the final possesion but were unable to convert. The Lady Saints were led by Rachel Barnes who scored 18 points. Amanda Pierson added 13 points and 10 rebounds. With the victory, the Lady Dragons take two out of three from the Lady Saints this season and advance on to the NJCAA Womens National Tournament for the first time since 1977. Seward finishes their season at 28-6.
