Lady Red Overcomes Cold Shooting Night

Liberal made just 4-26 three pointers and missed 36 shots but had enough to overcome Guymon 50-40 Tuesday night in the Big House.  Liberal had 20 offensive rebounds.  Two Lady Redskins had double doubles and an LHS point guard had a career night in the win.

A young and scrappy Guymon team led 9-8 after one quarter.  The Lady Redskins led by as many as nine in the second quarter (22-13) and led 22-17 at halftime.  Liberal led 33-21 in the third quarter and led 35-27 after three.  Liberal led 46-32 late and won by 10.

Ashley Carrillo had a career high 14 points to lead the Lady Redskins.  Aubrey Warden had 12 points and 11 rebounds.  Machia Mullens had 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Katie Horyna added nine.  For Guymon, Jo Quintero and Danica Portillo had 14 a piece.

Liberal wins their seventh straight in the series with Guymon and 35th straight in the Big House.

Liberal is 4-0 and Guymon is 4-3.  LHS plays at Dodge City Thursday night at 6 with Redskin Pre-game at 5:45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
