K-State/KU featured on ESPN’s College Football Live

KSCB News - July 7, 2009 12:00 am

Both K-State and KU’s football programs were featured on ESPN’s College Football Live show on Tuesday afternoon.

The show interviewed KSU Head Coach Bill Snyder and KU Head Coach Mark Mangino on the telephone about their upcoming seasons.

Mangino was asked during his interview who he considered the Jayhawks biggest rival to be between K-State and Missouri. Mangino said they are both big games but that when he was hired the boosters and fans made it clear that beating Missouri each season is expected.

Snyder stated during his interview that he doesn’t plan to coach at KSU this go around for a long period of time but would like to help set up a foundation for the program in the time that he is back.

The show also took a look back at some of the more memorable moments in each program’s history, including K-State’s Big XII Championship victory over Oklahoma in 2003, and KU’s Orange Bowl win over Virginia Tech during the 2007 season.

ESPN analyst Rod Gilmore then broke down both the Jayhawk and Wildcats schedules and made predictions for the upcoming season. Gilmore predicted no worse then a 9-3 regular season for KU, and predicted a 3-1 start for KSU, but didn’t give what he thought they would finish overall.

KSCB recently made the decision to carry KU athletics this season instead of K-State. You can vote in our sports poll on the sports page on rather or not you agree with the decision.
