Jim Rice To Seek 125th District Seat

KSCB News - May 2, 2014 10:10 am

Today it is with great excitement that I announce my intentions to seek the Kansas House of Representative Seat for the 125th District.
After much deliberation, thought and encouragement, I have decided I can continue serving Seward County at a higher level in the Kansas House of Representatives. Along with that decision comes the excitement of bringing the knowledge and experience I have gained from not only the past six plus years serving as a member of the Seward County Commission, but the years starting in the early 1970??s serving on many boards and committees of Seward County Government. As a result of many trips to Topeka in recent years to testify on issues concerning Seward County. As a result I have become friends with many legislators across the state which I view as an additional benefit to the residents of Seward County. It is with this knowledge and experience that I believe I can make a difference in Topeka and am willing to serve should the residents of Seward County approve.
One last but very important thing, I want to extend my sincere thanks to Representative Reid Petty for his service which will end in January. It is sad to see him go so soon and for the 125th District to lose such a young and respected Representative in Topeka, however the 125th??s Districts loss will be a definite win for those Southwesten Heights students, as I am sure Reid will continue to be as outstanding in his teaching career as he has been in serving as our Representative.
