A one vehicle accident occurred Tuesday morning at approximately 10:55 am a the result of a high speed chase.

The crash happened on U.S. Highway 83, 5.2 miles North of U.S. Highway 54. A 2010 Pontiac G6, being driven by Jose Fabela, 41, of Hugoton, was traveling Southbound on U.S. Highway 83 fleeing and eluding law enforcement. The Pontiac already having a flat tire, attempted to pass another Southbound vehicle on the right, but Fabela, seeing the other vehicle was moving to the right, steered to the left and lost control, entered the East ditch then struck two trees before coming to rest.

Fabela was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita to be treated for suspected serious injuries.
