KSCB News - March 30, 2014 3:14 pm

On Sunday, March 30, 2014 at about 6:18 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to 208 W. Pancake for a report of an injury accident involving a pedestrian. The vehicle involved in the accident had fled the scene.

Responding officers learned that a 30 year old male was walking beside the ice machine at Love’s Country Store. A white Dodge Ram pickup backed into him, pinning him between the pickup and the ice machine. Witnesses reported the driver sped away without rendering any aid to the victim.

The victim was transported to Southwest Medical Center by Seward County EMS. His condition was not life threatening. He was subsequently transferred to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas for further care.

Officers searching the area located the suspect vehicle at an address in the 100 block of Hoover Street. The vehicle was not occupied.

Investigators contacted the owner of the vehicle. The owner, a 22 year old male, was brought to the police department for questioning with investigators. He was subsequently arrested.

An affidavit will be sent to the County Attorney for the filing of formal charges.
