Henry Vela is Mead Lumber Athlete of the Week

Liberal senior soccer player Henry Vela is the Mead Lumber Athlete of the Week. Vela scored three goals in Liberal’s 5-0 win over Goddard Eisenhower Tuesday at the Cornelsen Sports Complex. Vela has been one of the team’s top defenders but is playing more on offense in recent games. Vela is a transfer from Hugoton and will also play basketball and baseball. Vela and the 11-6 Redskins face 13-4 Kapaun at Wichita Heights Thursday evening at 6:30 in the 5A regionals.
