Hays Hammers Bee Jays in Non League Game

The Liberal Bee Jays and Hays Larks began a three game series Monday night at Brent Gould Field.  It was all Hays.  The Larks won 18-7 while amassing 20 hits and four home runs in the non league game.

The Larks scored one in the first, three in the second, and one in the third.  Drew Gartman reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth to make it 5-1.  The Larks answered with a four run fifth.  The Bee Jays scored one in the bottom of the inning.  Josiah Rojas and Jhett Huffman provided the B.J.’s first hits of the night.  Wyatt Bohannon lofted a sacrifice fly to center to make it 9-2.  But the Larks unloaded with a seven run sixth with three home runs in the inning.  Hays added two in the seventh.  For the Bee Jays, their bats perked up against the Larks bullpen as Kaden Isola drove home a run in the sixth.  Liberal scored four runs on six hits in the seventh.  Trenton Uyeda led off with a double off the wall in left center.  Seth Green singled home a run.  Noah Giovanelli singled home a run and Cade Adams grounded out to score a run.  Josiah Rojas singled home a run.

Kaden Isola and Josiah Rojas had two hits a piece.  Josiah Rojas was Black Hills Energy Player of the Game as he also through out a runner trying to score on a fly out to left for a double play.

Hays is 23-4 overall and Liberal is 17-9-1 overall.  The same two teams meet for a league game Tuesday night at 7pm on 1270 and 92.3 FM with pregame at 6:45.  Sunflower Bank is the buyout sponsor.
