GUYMON- Guymon Council recently held their regularly scheduled council meeting. All council members were present- City Manager Mike Shannon, Sergio Alvidrez, Jason Eidson, Mayor Kim Peterson, Garrett Helton, Geraldine Sanchez, as well as Treasurer Lynn Hoffman and City Attorney David Petty.
The meeting commenced with the Proclamation Commemorating the Retirement of Public Works Director Tracy Bowers for his 42 years of service. Bowers’ career with the City of Guymon began in 1984 with his official retirement date on January 9, 2026. Bowers demonstrated strong leadership with a deep compassion for his community.
After passing motions to approve prior meeting minutes, Claims Registers, payroll for the previous month, Resolution No. 26-01 and 02, the Agreement between the City of Guymon and the International Association of Firefighters, council members discussed approving the Agreement between the City of Guymon and Ardurra Group Inc. to provide services to Sunset Lake. This agreement would include integrating a raw water line from Well No. 24 to discharge to Sunset Lake.
Council members tabled Item 10, Authorizing the Execution of a Maintenance Agreement with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) for Installation of Highway Illumination at SH-3 / US-412 & SH-136 to further discuss with ODOT, recommended by Shannon.
Next, council discussed and approved the appointment of Kim Baker as the new Municipal Judge. Shannon elaborated that she has done a great job stepping in for Mr. Petty and would be a good judge for the City. This followed with the discussion and approval of the proposed 2025 budget amendments, presented by Finance Director Rhonda Hindergardt. Hindergardt stated that revenue looked better than previous years.
To conclude, Main Street Director Ronni Wilson gave her monthly report and advised that Career Focus had kicked off and was going well and shared that Main Street had received a $10,000 grant from the Cherokee Strip Community Foundation that will be utilized to work on the Main Street Building. The Chamber of Commerce Director, Erica Maddox followed to update council on future events, such as the Meet and Greet with Darrell Weaver. Council then adjourned for the Utilities Authority Meeting where everything passed.
The next scheduled Council Meeting is set for February 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
