Great Bend Jumps on Liberal Early in Softball Regional

Great Bend’s softball team jumped on Liberal early in an 11-1 win in six innings Tuesday afternoon at Goddard Eisenhower High School. The WAC champion Panthers scored two in the first thanks in part to one LHS error and then scored eight in the second thanks in part to four errors. Liberal held Great Bend scoreless for the third four and fifth before Great Bend scored a run in the sixth to end it. Micah Hasik scored Liberal’s run thanks to an RBI from Ramey Petty. Great Bend lost their regional final against Goddard Eisenhower 2-1 and finishes 17-5.

Liberal finishes 9-12 which is three more wins than they won last year. They finished 6-4 at home and had two four game winning streaks. They also had four come from behind wins.
