Gov.-elect Brownback Sets Date For State Of The State Address

KSCB News - December 23, 2010 8:15 am

Kansas Gov.-elect Sam Brownback plans to
give his first State of the State address on Jan. 12, two days
after he takes office.
Brownback’s office says the speech will be broadcast live on
public television stations at 6:30 p.m.
He’s expected to use the address to outline his agenda for the
Legislature’s annual session. The session opens Jan. 10, shortly
after the new Republican governor is sworn in.
Following tradition, Brownback had to wait for an invitation
from House Speaker Mike O’Neal, a Hutchinson Republican, before
announcing the date and time of the speech. The governor-elect will
speak from the House chamber during a joint session with the
Senate.
