Garden City Toddler Drowns In Backyard Pool

On Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at approximately 9:50 p.m. officers of the Garden City Police Department and Finney County EMS responded to a possible drowning. When emergency personnel arrived, a 2-year-old boy was found unresponsive. CPR was performed and the boy was transported to St. Catherine Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The initial investigation has determined the boy and his mother were visiting the residence and several children were playing in the backyard. Several adults were in the backyard when somehow the boy was able to get through the fence surrounding the in-ground pool without being seen. The mother began looking for the boy and he was found in the pool. The incident remains under investigation and foul play is not suspected.
