Former Liberal Man Injured in a Deer Related Crash

A former Liberal man, Nathan Hillegeist, 24, now of Great Bend, was injured Saturday at approximately 9:10pm when the vehicle he was riding in, a 1998 Nissan Altima, driven by Alexis R. Mattheyer, 20, of Ellis, swerved to miss a deer in the roadway. The accident occurred 2.5 miles southeast of Hoisington. Mattheyer lost control the vehicle, entered the East ditch and struck embankment. She was not injured, but Hillegeist was taken to Clara Barton Hospital with injuries. Seatbelts were in use by both individuals.
