KSCB News - March 9, 2012 8:50 am

Finney County Emergency Management Coordinator Ralph Rojas and his wife, Debra Rojas, were arrested Wednesday afternoon on allegations of a fraudulent insurance act, conspiracy to commit a fraudulent insurance act, and interference with law enforcement.

According to reports from the Garden City Police Department, Ralph Rojas, 54, and Debra Rojas, 54, both of 904 N. Seventh St., were both arrested by Garden City police at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday. Ralph Rojas was arrested in the 900 block of North Seventh Street and Debra Rojas was arrested at Social and Rehabilitation Services, 1710 Palace Drive.

In two criminal complaints filed by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office, Ralph Rojas and Debra Rojas are both accused of filing an insurance claim with materially false information to Geico for an amount between $5,000 and $25,000. The complaint alleges that there was a knowing agreement between the two to call 911 to falsely alert of criminal damage to property followed by a false police report.

The alleged incidents are said to have occurred between Nov. 28 and 30, 2011, in Finney County.

Finney County Administration staff had no comment on Rojas’ arrest.

Ralph and Debra Rojas are no longer in custody at the Finney County Jail. Assistant Attorney General Nicole Romine has been assigned the case. Ralph Rojas was not available to be reached for comment.
