Fatal Accident In The Oklahoma Panhandle

KSCB News - June 10, 2009 12:00 am

Authorities say a woman and a girl from Keyes

were killed in a collision in the Oklahoma Panhandle.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said 36-year-old Lourdes Martinez

and 11-year-old Analy Nevarez died in an accident about 6:25 a.m.

yesterday near the Kansas state line.

Troopers say Martinez was driving a minivan south on Oklahoma 95

when she ran a stop sign at a county road intersection. A westbound

box truck crashed into the minivan, killing Martinez and Analy.

The trucks driver, 51-year-old Ricky Dean McDowell of Amarillo,

Texas, was treated at a Kansas hospital and released.

The patrol says McDowell was wearing a seat belt, but Martinez

and Analy were not.
