Excitement is Building in Elkhart

The Elkhart Wildcats were 5-4 during an injury plagued season last year and return nine starters on both sides of the ball. Elkhart has lost 13 of the past 14 against Meade and Stanton County who have been two of the top programs in 2A. Kris Buckner is back for his fourth season after going 7-2 in 2010, 3-6 in 2011, and 5-4 last season.

Alex Gomez returns are quarterback and has tossed 42 touchdown passes the past two seasons. He will also play a hybrid position on defense. Other key players are: Sr. WR/LB A.J. McKinley, Jr. OT/DE Wes Higgins, Jr. G/DE Marshall Witcher, Sr. WR/S Justin Hurn, So. TE/FB/MLB Tanner Burnett, Sr. RB/LB Austin Bond, G/MLB Wyatt Howe, Sr. WR/CB Colton Boaldin, and Jr. T/DT Taylor Harn. Twelve returning players started at one point last season. There are 28 players out for football at the 2A school.
