Students in the Criminal Justice program at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School have been accepted into the third annual Kansas Collegiate Law Enforcement Academy hosted by the Kansas Highway Patrol May 17-20.

Jamie Peralta, Hooker, Okla., Francisco Moreno, Liberal, and Daniel Gonzales, Booker, Texas, are all freshmen at SCCC/ATS.

At the academy, they will learn what it is really like to be in law enforcement, said Cristy Mulanax, SCCC/ATS Criminal Justice coordinator. They will have firearms, driving and felony traffic stop training, tour the prison at Ellsworth and listen to a panel of various professionals from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, county and city law enforcement, fish and wildlife, and the Alcohol Beverage Commission.
