Close Misses Costly for Liberal Girls

The Liberal Lady Redskins had chances to end their losing streak against Garden City. But they finished just short in a 47-41 loss to the Lady Buffaloes in the Big House Tuesday night. Garden City beats Liberal for the eighth consecutive time and 10 time in 11 tries.
Liberal and Garden City were tied at 11 after one quarter but GCHS led 18-15 at halftime. LHS took at 26-18 lead in the third quarter only to see Garden City run to a 32-30 lead after three.
Liberal out rebounded Garden City 44-31 but went 3-21 from three point ranged and 8-17 at the foul line while Garden was 12-23 at the charity stripe. Megan Besecker scored 11 in the loss.
Liberal is 2-6 and 1-1 in the WAC while the Lady Buffs are 5-5 and 1-2 in the WAC. Liberal plays in the Salina Invitational next Thursday January 22.
