Buzz Aldrin To Visit Kansas Cosmosphere

KSCB News - June 20, 2013 3:34 pm

Buzz Aldrin, one of the first men to walk on the moon, will visit the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center August 24, and will be signing his book, “Mission to Mars.”

In “Mission to Mars,” Aldrin speaks out as a vital advocate for the continuing quest to push the boundaries of the universe as we know it. As a pioneering astronaut who first set foot on the moon during mankind’s first landing of Apollo 11 – and as an aerospace engineer who designed an orbital rendezvous technique critical to future planetary landings – Aldrin has a vision, and in this book he plots out the path he proposes, taking humans to Mars by 2035.

Aldrin will be appearing on August 24 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Hall of Space Museum’s Apollo Gallery to sign copies of his book. Visitors must purchase copies at the Cosmosphere, and a Hall of Space admission is required. Aadvance orders will be available for pickup at the signing.

“It will be a great honor to welcome Aldrin, a pioneer of space exploration, to share his vision and advocacy to push toward new boundaries,” said Richard Hollowell, Cosmosphere CEO. “At the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center, our mission is to ‘honor the past and inspire the future of space exploration.’ We do this on a daily basis as we welcome visitors to our Hall of Space galleries, educate and entertain children on field trips and, through our STEM-based Camp KAOS programs. Aldrin’s visit places a very large exclamation point on the importance of our mission.”

To be first in line for updates on the “Mission to Mars” book signing and other events, including a reception and dinner with Apollo astronauts also occurring on August 24, email [email protected].
