Burger Named Opportunities Inc. Director

KSCB News - July 23, 2012 8:35 am

Opportunities, Inc., a well known 45 year old community service organization, has a new Outreach Coordinator. Guymon’s own Bob Burger was recruited in late March of this year to provide Outreach services in Beaver, Texas, and Cimarron Counties. “We were wanting to make some consolidations to streamline the organization when the Guymon and Beaver outreach positions came open,” said Executive Director for Opportunities, Inc., Terry Dubberly. “We thought this was an excellent time to do that and bring in fresh energy, and new leadership to the Panhandle. Bob is doing just great! He revitalized the Rx for Oklahoma and Weatherization programs and has started fund raising to support the Emergency Assistance and Homeless Prevention programs.” Burger has a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayland Baptist University in Business Management with specializations in health care management and long term care administration. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1994 as a Master Sergeant. After obtaining his Oklahoma nursing home administrator’s license, Bob moved to Guymon in 1995 to be the administrator at Dunaway Manor. Opportunities, Inc. is a not-for-profit community action agency. The main office is located in Watonga and the organization provides services in the 13 counties of northwestern Oklahoma. The agency’s mission is poverty relief, community development, housing, food/nutrition, health programs and economic development. The Guymon Outreach office is located at 601 N. Academy in Guymon and is responsible for the three counties of the Panhandle.
